White Fillings in London
White (composite) fillings in Camden, London

Most people would have some sort of in their mouths to restore a decayed or damaged tooth. For patients seeking superior cosmetic results for their fillings, NW1 Dental Care in Camden, we provide natural tooth-coloured white fillings where the results are so natural-looking that no one will be able to tell you’ve had any restorative treatment carried out. We are a practice, meaning our dentists will not use dental amalgam – a material composed of mercury, silver, tin, and copper. We recommend and only offer white fillings which is both aesthetically and functionally better a solution to restore and preserve your beautiful white smile.

White fillings, also known as composite fillings or tooth-coloured fillings, are a modern alternative to traditional silver (amalgam) fillings. They are made from durable composite resin that matches the natural shade of your teeth—giving you a strong, discreet, and long-lasting result.

Unlike silver fillings, white fillings are virtually invisible — they restore strength and function to a damaged tooth while maintaining your smile’s natural appearance. These can be applied to both the front and back teeth.

A tooth may decay due to various factors such as poor dental hygiene, mouth bacteria, eating sugary food and drinks  – which overtime weaken your enamel, breaking down the tooth and in a cavity. Unless this cavity is treated, the tooth will continue to decay and become increasingly painful. The dentist uses tooth filling to fill in the cavity, repairing the damage caused by the decay and preventing bacteria from attacking the cavity further. However, if the cavity is left untreated for a long time and the decay is beyond repairable with a filling, the dentist may recommend a root canal to repair the tooth or tooth extraction to remove the tooth completely.

People of all ages may require a tooth filling to restore their tooth back. You should visit a dentist if you have a toothache, sudden pain when you bite, sensitivity to hot and cold, or when you have a damaged tooth or cavity.  may use a white filling to :

✔  fill a cavity or repair tooth decay

✔  fix chips or broken tooth

✔  to reshape an uneven tooth

✔  to replace a metal amalgam (silver) filling

✔  to close small gaps between teeth

A filling normally requires a single dental appointment with the at the clinic.

1. Tooth preparation –  If the size of the cavity is big then your dentist may numb the tooth using local anaesthetic. The dentist will gently inject a local anaesthetic into your gum to numb the area that will be treated ensuring your dental treatment is as pain-free and comfortable as possible.

2. Removing decayed tissue – the dentist will carefully remove the decay in the tooth’s surface and small areas that are beginning to decay around it. This is mostly done using a small drill and you won’t feel any pain. The will try to as much of the natural tooth as possible. Note old metallic or silver filling can also be replaced here.

3. the cavity – After the damaged part is removed the resulting cavity is cleaned and disinfected.

4. Apply Bonding agent – We will apply an adhesive bonding agent to the cavity that will hold the composite filling in place and this is hardened using a blue light.

5. Place the filling material – Dental composite filling used to repair the tooth is a blended shade of composite resin that matches the colour of your natural tooth making it functional and aesthetically appealing.

6. Proper restoration – if you have any gaps between teeth then the dentist will apply fillings or if he finds any decay near the tooth nerve then you will be provided with proper medication for protection.

7. Shaping the – Once the cavity is filled, the dentist will sculpt and polish the surface, so it looks and feels like a natural tooth and restores your normal bite. A bite test using carbon paper is conducted to ensure your teeth fit together comfortably.

Once the filling procedure is complete, you will be able to use the tooth like any other tooth. You can eat and drink normally and you shouldn’t feel any discomfort. The time taken for the procedure varies for each person but usually within one hour. It is a quick and inexpensive alternative to other options like .

White fillings should typically last for 5-10 years before they need to be replacedDepending on how you take care of your teeth or how large your cavity is, you might require dental visits for fillings to be replaced.

It will depend on your plan whether the insurance provider will cover part or the full cost of white filling.  Most insurance plans cover only the cost of basic fillings. Our friendly team at NW1 Dental Care should be able to help and advise you on this matter.

Good oral hygiene and regular visits to your dentist for check-ups help curb cavities. In addition, using fluoride-rich toothpaste, eating high sugar food in moderation, avoid sugary drinks, and refraining from eating/snacking after brushing at night are some other things that help in preventing cavities.

Yes, white fillings offer benefits over traditional silver (amalgam) fillings:

White fillings are usually slightly more than amalgam, but offer superior aesthetics and are mercury-free, making the benefits outweigh the costs.

White fillings are also in high demand from people who wish to replace their metal filling with invisible fillings so that the filling blends with the natural tooth colour and isn’t visible when they laugh or talk.

You may have a cavity if you experience pain or sensitivity in your teeth while consuming cold, hot, sugary, or acidic food and beverages. If the cavity is severe then cool air can also cause irritation.

Getting fillings is normally a painless procedure and you may be given a local anesthetic before the procedure begins. In case you feel any pain after the treatment (which is uncommon) it can easily be managed by mild pain killers or even home remedies.

Your composite filling doesn’t require any special care. Maintaining good oral and regular dental visits will help keep your white fillings in excellent condition. Additionally, avoid biting on hard objects or using your teeth as tools to damage to the fillings.

Contact our clinic to make a prompt appointment so that the dentist can examine the nature of the loose or missing tooth filling issue you are experiencing. After the dental check-up, the dentist would be in the best position to advise on the necessary treatment required for your case.

If there is too much damage to the teeth then the dentist may recommend other options like dental crown or inlays/onlays

If the tooth decay has reached centre of the tooth, then the might advise on to save the tooth. Post root canal treatment, the dentist will restore your tooth shape and strength by fillings or

While teeth whitening treatments will whiten your natural tooth enamel, they do not affect composite fillings. If you decide to undergo teeth whitening, your white fillings may not match the new shade of your teeth. If this happens, your dentist may recommend replacing the fillings to match your brighter smile.

Testimonials

Probably the best teeth whitening product in market. This is excellent! I tried so many teeth whitening systems including Zoom, Boutique etc, worked for me, but this one is a miracle! Clinic has very good price for enlighten compared to other clinics in London. Service was amazing and results are fab !!! I finished the treatment almost 2 years ago, with the simple top up regime I keep my teeth pearl white. Love it and recommended to friends and family!

Got enlighten whitening. Very happy about the service and the service

I had Invisalign treatment and whitening and was super by how quickly the whole treatment was. My front teeth had been rotating since I had my braces off as a kid and I was a little hesitant about how long the treatment would take. Expect regular follow ups with the dentist and specialists who are super friendly and welcoming. I’d recommend coming here if you are considering it!

I’ve been a client since 2018 and my experience has been AMAZING. From reception to end of procedure all the staff involved are always extremely friendly and professional. So far I have had Invisalign and whitening with Anima as well as many small treatments and I’ve always been impressed with the quality of service the whole team provides.

So impressed with the staff and dentists at NW1. They are welcoming, always professional and have done a fantastic job on any treatment I’ve had done. Lidiya is super and accommodating.

I most recently had zoom whitening course and composite bonding treatment, I’m so thrilled with the results I’m going back for more :). I’ve recommended to my friend who will be coming in soon for similar treatment.

At first I came here for laser zoom whitening and the results were great. I contacted the team at NW1 Dental Care for whitening as my teeth were slowly going back to normal and they suggested I do a 12 day home treatment and the results have been amazing! My teeth look whiter than ever and I prefer this over other such as veneers. The team are kind, caring, and will genuinely go out of their way to help you and make sure you’re satisfied. I can’t recommend them enough. Huge thanks to the receptionist and dentist who helped me! Hope to come again soon when I need some more gels!

Professional and polite. Answered phone immediately for appointment, and even called me back to book earlier when they got an opening. Cleaning done by Dentist (though I’m fine with a trained Assistant), and she was super nice, informative, and great "bedside manner". Has occasional promotions for things (whitening, hygiene) and now even has monthly plan starting at £15! Quick walk from the metro in a nice area.

Brilliant results using the enlighten teeth whitening with the staff being professional and friendly. A practice well worth recommending to others.

Had an absolutely amazing experience at NW1 Dental care, I hadn’t had a professional clean in years and had let my teeth get into quite a state. I had been very anxious about seeing a dentist after having bad experiences in the past but I bit the bullet after seeing an ad for NW1 on instagram then reading some positive reviews. My dentist Ioanna was lovely and chatty and talked me through everything, gave me an immaculate clean and offered some advice on products and methods for keeping better care of my teeth all without condescension. It was more like being at a spa than being at the dentist, I had never had such a positive experience with a before. 100% would recommend.

After moving to London, I was on the hunt for a new dental practice. I read some reviews of various places and settled on NW1 Dental Care and I am so glad I did! It’s one of the best dental experiences that I have had. From start to finish, from receptionist to dentist, the whole thing was and is painless and easy. The staff are friendly and informed and the premises are conveniently located near transport links and very welcoming.

I’ve had a few appointments in the past from check ups to hygiene and have never been . Most recently I had the Zoom Whitening treatment. I’ve never had any whitening treatment before so wasn’t sure HRT What We Treat to expect, but the staff talked me through it and made me feel very comfortable. It was easy and actually quite relaxing!

Even after moving half way across London, I still consider NW1 Dental as my practice!

Big thank you to all the staff, especially Dr Anima Bodane.
